Seminar Details Not only rising prices for energy and water but also the almost day by day enforcing of the political aims to reach the European demands of the 20/20/20 objective lead to a massive rise in pilot projects on how to achieve the above named goals. Looking behind the scenes, most of the projects are not economically self-standing and the decrease in energy saving is not as that much as expected.
The reason is simple to describe. The implementation of new systems for the measurement of energy and water (e.g. smart metering or energy management systems) or the use of new and better materials for thermal insulation is only one step to gravitate into saving energy. Rather than this is to examine how the above named technical improvements lead to savings in energy and water and how the energy and water consumption of customers can be influenced by using appropriate methods.
The proposed article will describe approaches and results developed in the EU funded project eSESH (Saving Energy in Social Housing):
-How to observe consumption behaviour of customers:
oWhich technologies fulfil the need of data
oRequirements concerning data protection
oRequirements concerning economic decisions
-Evaluation of data:
oMathematical Methods for data evaluation
oDefinition of the relevant statistical values
oDefining appropriate physical boundary conditions
oMethods for the estimation of statistical values using historical annual consumption data
-Methods to support customers to change their behaviour:
oTechnical systems
oEducation on consumption behaviour
oUsing incentives
