New Technologies and the 'beyond oil economy'
| Date/Time: | 24 May 2012 11:00-11:15 |
| Location: | Energy Theatre Two |
Seminar Details The author worked originally in the gas from coal and oil industries and later was involved in production and enhanced oil recovery from the North Sea fields, amongst others. Working now, in the field of pollution clean-up in the oil industry with the likes of China National, Petronas Malaysia and others, he has watched the varying crises within the oil and energy sectors as they have developed.
This presentation will examine some of the technological advances being made in alternate fuels with particular reference to algae, and their use in nutrient stripping, the use of AD digestors in waste to energy, and the replacement of oil derived materials with materials derived from agriculture.
Comment will also be made on the potential for conversion of organic carbons to fuel oil whereby newer research presents liquid / gas / solid outputs from waste carbon inputs.
All of these newer technologies present one piece of the jigsaw which collectively will present a picture of the 'beyond oil economy'.
