    As an engineer, Steve Oakman started his career with the BBC, during which time he worked with telecommunication technology. Later, he joined Marconi where his work became test solutions for telecoms networks. In 1999 he joined Wandel & Goltermann, as programme manager for comms test. Steve joined Kamstrup in 2002 to take up what he thought was a short six month contract. Eight years later he continues to work for Kamstrup, managing a team based out of Sudbury. Little did he know the impact that telecoms was to have on Smart Metering and how long six months might be!
