    Seminar Details
Many factors contribute to the fragility and vulnerability of the energy grid in the UK. Pursuing a rigorous energy efficiency programme contributes to mitigation strategies that reduce the vulnerability of an organisation to energy disruption. Most organisations have business continuity plans that include back up power supplies for essential equipment and business processes. The real key to energy resilience is to integrate the disparate stakeholders such at ICT, Business Continuity, HR and Building Management with the holistic management of energy throughout the organisation. When overall energy demand is efficiently managed and reduced to an optimised level for the business, it opens the possibility of ?doing more with less?. For example, if the sizing of essential electricity supply to server rooms, emergency systems or critical processes can be reduced to an optimum level, the associated back up supply system can either be scaled down or additional business functions may now be included within the 'essential' items list. One of the most important aspects of an effective energy resilience strategy is to regularly review the appropriate plant, processes and people to ensure they are all still fit for their intended purpose. Effective energy management that uses smart metering, monitoring and targeting and possibly on- site renewables to minimise the organisation's use of externally generated electricity will all add to energy resilience at the same time as reducing the business's energy bills. Suitable for Energy managers; Business Continuity Managers; FM companies; IT Managers. Energy management improves bottom line revenue as well as business resilience.
