    Seminar Details
Energy from waste (EfW) projects in the UK are incentivised through two low-carbon mechanisms: the Renewables Obligation (RO) and the recently introduced Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). However, Government policy in this arena is often complex and rapidly changing. This presentation aims to disentangle some of the complexities of the underlying legislation to provide a simplified breakdown of support levels available to specific technologies, feedstocks and technology/feedstock combinations, as well as some notable exemptions. The presentation pays close attention to EfW with combined heat and power (CHP), anaerobic digestion (AD) and both 'advanced' and 'standard' advanced conversion techniques (ACT) as well as recent changes to 'ROC bandings', the mechanism whereby certain 'priority' technologies/feedstocks are given additional incentives. In addition, evidential requirements relating to the biobased energy content of mixed wastes are explained, including the rationale and science behind emerging isotopic based approaches. The presentation will be informative to all delegates with an interest in the waste to energy sector and will have specific importance to: o Investors o Developers o Energy Managers/Consultants o Waste Managers/Consultants o Technology developers Delegates will not only learn about the economic aspects relating to the incentives available to EfW schemes, but will also learn about their practical implementation and considerations that are required to achieve viable waste to energy projects.
