One Planet - Plastic Surgeon targets zero waste
| Date/Time: | 24 May 2012 12:15-12:30 |
| Location: | Environmental and Land Remediation Theatre |
Seminar Details Rob Mouser, MD of Plastic Surgeon, will draw on data from the company's own award winning data base management system, as well as some globally accepted statistics, to demonstrate both the necessity and the viability of the construction industry targeting 'Zero Waste'.
The World Wildlife Fund has calculated that if the whole of the world's population used the Earth's resources as we do in the West, then it would require three planets to support us.
This demonstrates that the developed economies, with the industrialized juggernauts of China and India in hot pursuit, are failing the accepted test of a sustainable system: in that we cannot continue to live and consume in a manner which reduces the finite resources available to those who come after us.
It is not sufficient to cut carbon emissions and recycle. Therefore achieving Zero Waste will be primarily dependent on disposing of less and Plastic Surgeon - through the service it provides to construction industry clients - is actively working towards this.
