Drilling & Tapping Competition
The IWO National Drilling and Tapping Championships is a special feature at IWEX. The event is a time trial and each team has two contestants with an aim to drill and tap a 150mm diameter ductile iron main under pressure at 70-100 psi, together with the installation of a simulated service connection. Skill, dexterity and speed are a prime requirement, but quality is paramount and time penalty points are added if there are any leaks or infringements of the rules & regulations governing the Championship.
2007 saw the 7th Annual Ladies Drilling & Tapping Competition, which is growing every year in size and support. For the first time IWO awarded a Contractor Trophy and a prize for the best new entry as well!
